Introducing Universal Tennis Team Tennis featuring Youth Team Tennis (UTRs 1-6) and Premier Team Tennis (UTRs 6-12). Players will compete in team competitions against each other in this innovative and fun time-based, level based co-ed format.
What is the difference between Youth Team Tennis and Premier Team Tennis?
Youth Team Tennis: Nine total matches will be played per event: three doubles and six singles matches. All matches will be played in under two hours. Each team will consist of a minimum of eight players, the teams will be co-ed, and all players will be under 18 years of age.
Premier Team Tennis: Six total matches will be played per event: two doubles and four singles matches. All matches will be played in under three hours. Each team will consist of a minimum of six players, the teams will be co-ed, and all players will be under 18 years of age.
What format does UTR Team Tennis follow?
Universal Tennis Team Tennis is a time-based play that allows: a two-minute warning, no ad-scoring, no sitting on changeovers, and twenty seconds between points, and coaching is allowed. When “Time” is called players can finish the current point, and play one more if it’s a deciding point.
How are the matches timed?
Youth Team Schedule:
Warmup: 10 minutes
Doubles: 30 minutes followed by a 5-minute break
1st Singles: 35 minutes followed by a 5-minute break
2nd Singles: 35 minutes
Total: 120 minutes or two hours
Premier Team Schedule:
Warmup: 10 minutes
Doubles: 50 minutes followed by a 5-minute break
1st Singles: 55 minutes followed by a 5-minute break
2nd Singles: 55 minutes
Total: 180 minutes or three hours
How is a winning team determined?
The team that wins the most games overall will be declared the winner. All ties are broken by the number of total games won.
Do the results from UTR Team Tennis count towards Verified UTR?
Yes! All Universal Tennis Team Tennis affiliated results will count towards Verified UTR as long as one player won a minimum of 4 games. As a result, there is a Verified UTR Event fee tied to each UTR Team Tennis registration. If you'd like to have the fee waived you can upgrade to our UTR Power Subscription.
