FAQ: UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT)


Who is eligible to participate in the UTR Pro Tennis Tour $25K?

MINIMUM RANKING REQUIREMENTS

Male players must have a UTR of at least 12.5 and be outside the top 200 PTT ranking. Women must have a minimum UTR of 9.7 and be outside the top 200 PTT ranking.

Players ranked 1-200 or outside the top 2000 will only be accepted with a wild card approved by UTR. All other eligible players will be placed in the alternates list and entry fees refunded.

OPEN COMPETITION

UTR Pro Tennis Tour $25K tournaments are open to all tennis players based on merit and without discrimination. Minors under the age of fourteen (14) shall not be eligible for Entry. For the purposes of these Regulations, the player’s age as of the Monday of the Tournament Week shall be used.

Important Note:

If the host territory or venue has complications due to COVID-19 and/or tournament entries have fewer than 28 players of the required level by the close of the entry deadline, then the draw size may be reduced to 20 players (16 Direct Acceptance/4 WCs) or canceled entirely.

What is the UTR Pro Tennis Tour $25K event format?

The main draw (singles only) will consist of 8 groups of 4 players each. The round-robin group stages will run from Sunday to Wednesday. All matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring.

The Playoff Rounds will be single elimination and consist of three draws of 8 players depending on the player's group finishing (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and will run from Thursday to Sunday. All matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring.

A one-round Qualifying will start and be completed on Sunday and all matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring. The losers in qualifying can sign in for Lucky Loser throughout the round-robin group stages.

What is the policy on withdrawal process?

The Entry Deadline is at 12:00pm American Eastern Standard Time(EST) on the Monday fourteen (14) days prior to the Monday of the Tournament Week unless otherwise specified.

The Freeze Deadline is at 12:00pm American Eastern Standard Time(EST) on Thursday four (4) days prior to the Monday of the Tournament Week.

No player may withdraw their entry from the Main Draw or Qualifying of a UTR Pro Tennis Tour $25K tournament for any reason after the Acceptance Lists come out. All withdrawals will be considered a Late Withdrawal and will be subject to the fines and suspensions set forth in the Code of Conduct and listed below.

Prior to the Freeze Deadline, players are allowed one free withdrawal and two excused medical withdrawals per calendar year with written email notice to UTR (pts@universaltennis.com) without penalty.

WITHDRAWAL PENALTIES

Late Withdrawals Prior to Freeze Deadline: $500 and a potential one-month suspension
Late Withdrawals After Freeze Deadline: $750 and a potential one-month suspension
No Show: Maximum $1,000 and up to a two-month suspension
Playing another event: Maximum $1,000 and up to a two-month suspension

THREATS, OFFENSIVE & UNWANTED MESSAGES

If you are receiving any emails, SMS messages, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or other social media messages and/or images that you are consider inappropriate, offensive or otherwise concerning, send a copy of the message, screenshot and the URL to: ptt@universaltennis.com.

Alternatively, talk to a member onsite ideally the Referee or TD for any immediate assistance. The nature of these messages include any that are requesting or soliciting (or similar) a player to intentionally lose a match or a part thereof for financial gain. For any betting-related messages, please also send any supporting evidence to: ptt@universaltennis.com. Players are reminded of their reporting obligations who are bound by other policies and programs outside of the UTR PTT.
