Twice each year, top UTR Sports Flex League players qualify to compete in a small playoff bracket against similarly rated opponents to win bragging rights and prizes.
When do City Championships happen?
City Championships take place twice each year:
Spring 2026 Championship
- Begins: March 18, 2026
- Qualifying sessions: August 20, 2025 → March 4, 2026
Fall 2026 Championship
Takes place: September 9, 2026
Qualification sessions: March 4, 2026 → Aug 19, 2026
What actually is a City Championship?
City Championships are small playoff brackets where qualified Flex League players compete against others with similar UTR Ratings to be crowned a City Champion at their level.
Key facts:
- You compete only against players near your rating
- Most brackets are within the same UTR range (ex: 4.0–4.9)
- Winners receive prizes and bragging rights
How Do You Qualify?
You must meet BOTH of these:
- Play in two events: Compete in at least 2 Flex League sessions during the qualification window listed above. Events can include:
- Singles
- Doubles
- PlayMore doubles
- Finish in the top 2 once: You must place 1st or 2nd in at least one event.
What Is the Championship Format?
Bracket Structure
- Typically a 4-player bracket
- All players start in the semifinals
- Some brackets may have 2–3 players depending on availability
Timeline to Play Matches
- You usually have 3 weeks to complete matches
- If you only have one match: 1.5 weeks
Matches follow the same flexible scheduling format as regular Flex League play.
Who Will You Play?
Your opponents will be:
- Other qualified players
- Closest to you in UTR Rating
This ensures fair competition, balanced matchups and Champions at each skill level.
Additional Rules to Know
- Flex League managers may promote players if needed
- Extensions require approval from the UTR Flex team
- Standard Flex League rules still apply
