  • Complete three (3) singles events between April 15 and September 30, 2026.
  • Win two (2) Flex Leagues within the 2026 season.
  • Play a minimum of nine (9) matches between April 15 and September 30, 2026.
  • Win a City Championship event.

Note: UTR Sports reserves the right to issue wildcards or special invitations at their discretion.

III. Tournament & Division Format

  • Match Guarantee: All participants are guaranteed four (4) matches across the weekend (two on Day 1, two on Day 2).
  • Eligibility: Open to players aged 16 & over residing in the United States.
  • Draws: Coed singles events grouped by UTR rating.
  • Registration & Flight Setup: Players register for the Open Division. Following the deadline, players are split into specific flights based on UTR ranges.
  • UTR Lock-In: Player UTRs officially lock on the Tuesday before the event begins. (Example: If a player is rated 4.99 on Tuesday, they will compete in the 4–5 division).

Draw Structure

  • Day 1 (Friday): Round-robin play within groups of eight, organized by UTR levels (e.g., 1–2, 2–3, 3–4).
  • Day 2 (Saturday): One final round-robin match in the morning. Final standings from the first three matches determine placement for the afternoon National Championship flight matches. Players are placed into championship matches within their tier (e.g., 4–5 Tier 1 will feature a 1st/2nd place match, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th).

IV. Scoring & Match Format

To improve player recovery and schedule flow, the format has been updated to Fast Four sets for most rounds.

  • Standard Matches: Best 2-out-of-3 "Fast Four" sets with Ad scoring. A 10-point tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
  • National Championship Finals: Best 2-out-of-3 full sets with no-ad scoring. A 10-point tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.

V. Rules of Play

  • Warm-up: All players receive a 5-minute warm-up before their match begins.
  • Rest Periods:
    • 2 minutes between sets.
    • 5 minutes if players split sets (prior to the 10-point tiebreaker).
  • Time Penalties for Late Players:
    • 10-minute grace period.
    • 10+ minutes late: Point penalty.
    • 15+ minutes late: Game penalty.
    • 20+ minutes late: Match default.
  • Medical & Bathroom Breaks:
    • One (1) injury timeout permitted per match. A second timeout results in a point penalty.
    • Bathroom breaks are permitted between sets only.

VI. Code of Conduct

  • Sportsmanship: Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. UTR Sports reserves the right to default any player for misconduct. One main umpire will be on-site, with a second umpire on standby if needed. We expect the same great sportsmanship displayed in 2025.
  • Spectators: Must remain off the playing area at all times.
  • Filming: Permitted only with the explicit approval of the opponent.
  • Cheering: Players should show positive emotion away from their opponent (facing the opposite direction).
  • Authority: UTR Sports and on-site umpires have final authority on all tournament decisions.
