The Double Elimination draw format is most commonly used in pickleball play but can also be used in tennis. This allows players the opportunity to play more matches during an event wherein all players must lose twice before being eliminated, regardless of which draw or round they are in.
To get started, select the "Event Desk" button on your event page.
Note: The event desk button will appear after the registration has been closed.
If no existing draws have been created, you can choose how you want to create your first draw. You can either Create Draw directly or select players from the All Players List to create your new draw. You can follow the full instructions in this article.
Pro-tip: The recommended draw size for this format is 8 or 16 players - 32 is also good!
After you've populated your Players Bank, you can either set up matches manually or click "Auto-Fill" to fill the draw automatically:
If you choose autofill, you'll see a message like this:
Once you click "Confirm", the draw will be automatically filled. It should have the players in matches and look something like this:
Once you start entering match scores, main draw losers will move to the back draw, regardless of which round they lose.
Note: When players move to the back draw, they will be placed during certain rounds in reverse order at a time to avoid repeat matchups.
The last player in the back draw with only 1 loss will be moved back to the main draw to play against the main draw winner with 0 losses in the championship match.
Note: If the back draw winner with only 1 loss defeats the main draw winner with 0 losses in the championship match, an additional match will be required to be played. This is due to the fact that the main draw winner with 0 losses cannot be eliminated with only 1 loss.
In the example below, Regina is the player with 0 losses from the main draw and Jamie is the player with 1 loss from the back draw. Since Jamie defeated Regina in the championship round (Round 4), an additional match is populated.
Once you are all done, don't forget to publish your draw!
